Hartley Nature Center
In September 2007 the Board of the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation awarded Hartley Nature Center in Duluth with a $13,000 grant to assist with general operating support.
The mission of Hartley Nature Center is to provide people with opportunities for understanding, appreciation and stewardship of the natural world. To accomplish this mission Hartley provides educational programs that emphasize life-long learning in natural history, hands-on stewardship opportunities towards restoring the region’s natural communities and programming that models the connection between sustainable lifestyles and the natural world. Hartley Nature Center offers a number of traditional natural history and progressive environmental education opportunities including programs on bird banding, animal tracking and green-building technologies.
