2013 Grants
We all want a better future for our children, families and communities and the Foundation is so fortunate to be able to partner with the many nonprofits in our service area that are focused on creative solutions towards building that better future. The Foundation awarded 67 grants totaling $878,751 to organizations working to create a better future for our service area during 2013.
In addition to grants awarded, the Foundation had the great joy of awarding a record number of Lloyd K Johnson Post- Secondary scholarships to Cook County High School seniors in 2013 with 9 scholarship awarded! These students then joined 3 students receiving renewal scholarships and 1 student receiving a second renewal scholarship at Lake Superior College. As one of the scholarship recipients wrote to us “you believed in us and I thank you for making my dream come true. As my future continues I can’t wait to reach my goals, stand tall with courage and keep my positive attitude”.
