Step Three: Grant Application
Applicants whose Letter of Intent has been accepted will be invited to apply for grant consideration.
All applications are submitted through the online application system. Short Form applications ($2,000 and under) are accepted year-round. Full Grant applications (more than $2,000) are due by 5pm CST:
Applications due on a weekend or a federally recognized holiday, will be due the following business day by 5pm CST. Applications received after the deadline date/time will not be reviewed.
After eligibility screening, proposals are reviewed by Foundation staff. Additional information may be requested, especially if the proposed project is complex. The comprehensive review may include conversations with the organizations staff, board members or other members of the community. In addition, Foundation staff may conduct site visits to better understand the project.
The review process seeks to identify projects that align with our mission and priorities. The Foundation’s priorities are broad by design. The Foundation funds proven programs, as well as promising new initiatives; and matching grant requests on a case-by-case basis.
Following the review process, the Foundation’s Executive Director will prepare a staff report with recommendations for the Board of Directors, who will make the final decisions on grants.
The Foundation will consider multi-year support for selected programs that provide critical and important services in their fields, and will review, on case-by-case basis, requests for matching grants.
The Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation is unable to fund all the submitted proposals even if they meet program guidelines, as funding requests often exceed available dollars.
