Lloyd K. Johnson Scholarship Program for
Cook County High School Seniors
Our founder had just one request of the funds he left to the Foundation: “Start a scholarship program for students from Cook County High School” – his alma mater. He valued higher education and he firmly believed it could change the trajectory of a life … and we do too!
What does the scholarship pay for?
- We pay for full tuition, books & fees.
- We pay for up to 2.5 academic years; 7 total semesters if you take summer courses.
Who is eligible?
- All CCHS seniors graduating with a 2.0 GPA + are eligible to apply.
- You can study anything you’d like and change majors (or campuses) anytime you’d like, too.
- We love all students and all their interests – especially students who could use a little extra support!
Where can I go?
We’re big fans of our college partners, and we hope you are, too!
All our partners are part of the MN State system offering: Easy transfers, great campus resources & supports, tons of academic programs, robust athletic programs, and really cool student clubs and associations. All have on-campus housing options too, except for LSC (coming in 2025).

We provide support!
Providing ongoing support to students is just as important to us as paying their tuition.
We provide our students one-to-one personalized support and encouragement, tailored financial classes, monthly e-newsletters, and help with: Completing the FAFSA, understanding financial aid, registering for classes, college tours, learning public transit, budgeting, and connecting with campus and community resources.
